Description
Being able to judge distance and time is a really important skill in fencing. If the fencer is catching the glove every time you can drop the glove from a lower height, or the fencer can start from further away, meaning they have to do a step & a lunge in order to reach the glove.

The oldest known fencing manual is a late 13th century Latin manuscript found in a German monestery and is now in the Royal Armouries. It has over 100 ink and watercolour drawings of a priest and a student armed with sword and buckler (a small round shield held by a handle or worn on the forearm).
